Dear Mom:
How are things going there? Here, I’m having the best time of my life. I’ve been here in Bogotá for ten days now and it’s unbelievable! When I arrived, your friend Lucia picked me up at the airport and took me to her home. Her whole family was waiting for us; they had prepared a welcoming dinner. We had a typical meal: a soup called Ajiaco. It had chicken, three different kinds of potatoes, corn, but the main flavour is given by some leaves they call “guascas”. It’s a funny name but they give a delicious taste to the soup. The next day, they took me downtown to visit the old part of the city. There, we visited La Candelaria, Bolivar Square (I’m sending you a picture of it), some museums, and churches. But the ones I really loved were Monserrate Church, which is located at the top of a mountain (the view was amazing), and the Gold Museum which has a beautiful collection of Pre-Colombian items. Mom, I’m really enjoying myself. I’m having a great time! That’s it for now. I’ll write to you soon.
-Love, Liz.
